International Winter Program (WP)
Every year from January to February, students participating in the Winter Program (WP) travel to four continents for 4-6 weeks to study culture, business, engineering, or language courses. Each program is uniquely tailored to its destination's cultural characteristics and includes a period of free travel, giving participants the chance to independently explore their host country.
In 2025, students visited 11 countries and regions including the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Argentina.

Reminders:
- Interested students should prepare their passport well in advance
- Check the application requirements carefully — some programs are only open to upper-year students
- Pay attention to the type and number of credits each program offers
- WP credits cannot be double-counted across UM and SJTU
- WP coursework is not a walk in the park! It is possible to fail and not receive credits, so you still need to put in the work
Domestic Winter Program (DWP)
In addition to the overseas WP, the domestic winter program is called DWP (Domestic Winter Program).
The 2025 winter programs included destinations in Guizhou, Chang'an, Yunnan, and others. Faculty members such as Dr. Manuel, Dr. Ryan, and Dr. Xu Tong led the groups.
Reminders:
- DWP course fees are charged at the spring semester credit rate; refer to the 2025 Spring Course List for specifics.
